Friday Night Lights (of the indooor variety)
We spent the evening last night attending a basketball game at our previous high school. My nephew is a senior there, and we wanted to make sure we attended at least one game. He didn’t get to play, but I got to mess with my camera, and try out some settings.
I know this photos is full of noise, and not very good, but I like it. I was standing on the side lines, trying to capture some of the action. It took me about half of the game to just figure out what settings I needed to use, to get it to stop the action, but not look all washed out.
I’m getting better. The camera feels more at home in my hands now. I am starting to instinctively know what to do, and when.
Mostly, though, I think I need to get a hold of a field guide for my camera and work through a bunch of settings. The manual that came with the camera is excellent, except it doesn’t tell me much about *when* to use certain settings.
I love my camera, and I love the fact that not more than 30 minutes after leaving the game, I had these photos uploaded on my pc, and was starting to edit some and save others. I took maybe 200 shots last night. Probably 30 of them were completely unusable due to bad settings, or blurs or just bad composition. 100 or so of them were decent enough to at least load into photoshop and tinker around with them, and maybe 30 were good enough to upload right off the camera.
We were supposed to have a scrimmage for Jack this morning, but he spent most of the night running back and forth to the bathroom, so it looks like we are housebound for the day. Good thing there is some football on later.
